The WSL Biodiversity Center is pleased to announce the upcoming «Biodiversity Science Video Storytelling with Smartphones» workshop. The 1.5-day hands-on course will be held on 24 September and 1 October. Registration is now open.
Do you work on biodiversity issues and want to learn how to communicate your research to a broad audience? Videos on social media are a significant tool for scientific dissemination. By leveraging effects, engaging scripts, and short formats, we can effectively reach audiences that have moved away from traditional media.
In this 1.5-day workshop, participants will learn engaging audiovisual storytelling techniques for science communication and smartphone videography techniques.
The course will take place on 24 September and 1 October in WSL Birmensdorf. The first day will focus on storytelling, hands-on video exercises, and the choice of individual video ideas. After that, participants will work independently on their projects for one week: a self-paced video production with asynchronous feedback from the lecturers. On the second day, participants will finalize their videos and share them in the classroom.
The hands-on course will be led by EduMedia (ETH Zurich).
Registration ¶
The workshop is open to any WSL staff member (from any Research or Service and Support Units) working on biodiversity. No prior knowledge of video making is required.
Registration is now open (intranet link). Spaces are limited, so please register only if you can attend both days (1.5 days total).
