Welcome to the WSL–Eawag Biodiversity Center! We are excited to launch this new initiative to promote, further develop, and consolidate research and outreach in biodiversity science. The Center is all about connecting people, sharing ideas, and building collaborations across the two institutes.
The Center is led by Catherine Graham (WSL) and Blake Matthews (Eawag), with Nadia Castro (WSL) coordinating the efforts. A steering group supports the Centre, including Ivana Logar, Philine Feulner, and Christoph Vorburger from Eawag, and Anne Kempel, Nick Zimmermann, and Benjamin Dauphin from WSL.
The Centre’s success stems from past steering committee members—Nicole Bauer, Aline Frossard, Frank Krumm, Christian Rellstab, and Anita Risch—, and former coordinators- Valentina Vitali and Rafael Wüest– and the biodiversity community.
Two events will mark the start of this collaboration:
- Biodiversity Symposium – “Biodiversity Monitoring: New Approaches and Techniques” on 2 December 2025 at WSL. Registration is now open.
- Biodiversity Research Day, our official kick-off event, planned for 22 January 2026 at WSL. More information coming soon.
The launch of the Centre is an open invitation to everyone interested to get involved. While we will continue our regular activities, including workshops and summer schools, we are eager to hear your ideas and suggestions for collaborative activities.
